Seoul Fashion Week S/S 11: Jardin de Chouette

On Sunday, Jardin de Chouette's spring/summer collection, designed by Kim Jaehyun, literally sparkled and glided on the runways of Seoul. The brand explores feminine and contemporary clothing, inspired by streetwear. This collection adhered to this concept with pinstriped, mannish three piece suits, with glittering stars on the blazers. Wide-legged trousers moved elegantly in white and blue whilst blazers were punchy in electric blue with flashes of vibrant yellow. Romantically pleated dresses were very short or very long in white, black and star prints. Streetwear was acknowledged through leather biker jackets in burnt orange, exposed zips on skinny trousers and three quarter length cargo trousers in neon pink and yellow. The sharp trousers was kept girly with silk, backless tops lined with black ribbon.

The collection moved from casual daywear to classic feminine suits to attractive evening wear in an array of silhouettes. Particularly striking was a fun and frivolous blue and pink star print jumpsuit. The yellow, chiffon pleated dress above was also summery and pretty. This is a video I took of the finale of the show. I apologise for the shaky camera work. More professional photos can be viewed at Ilmostreet and Noona blog. Below are photos from previous collections.

Seoul Fashion Week S/S 11: Ko Tae-yong

Showcasing his work in both New York and Seoul this year, Ko Tae-yong's collection was inspired by boyhood, with the concept of a boy changing his fathers clothes to suit his own style. Hence, logo sweaters and waistcoats were juxtaposed with grandpa style shirts and tailored trousers in hues of navy, grey and beige with dashes of red, pink and khaki. Seoul Fashion Week S/S 11: Han Sang-hyeok, MVIO

Since graduating from Hongik University with a masters in clothing design, Han Sang-hyeok's career has flourished, moving from design director of BON Seoul Collection Design to creative director of MVIO. With the concept of riding, this s/s 11 collection maintained his reputation for classic, casual menswear. Utilizing tailored shorts, neutral colours and skinny ties, this collection was preppy with a slight edge, enhanced by leather cuffs and jackets. Also note the presence of man bags, always popular in Korea. More photos can be viewed at Feetman Seoul.

Seoul Fashion Week S/S 11: Ha Sang Beg

Ha Sang Beg's collection, "Sleeping Rapunzel and the Funky Bunch", consisted of wool and cashmere, deconstructed knitwear in electric blue, bright yellow, dusty pink and acid red. Combined with skinny panelled trousers, exposed zips and short plastic jackets, this collection was bright, bold and not for the faint hearted. Describing his brand as street meets couture with experimental silhouettes and designs, Ha Sang Beg first showcased his work on Seoul's runways two years ago.
